Fish, seaside fun, music… Sounds like a summer day. And that is what Polis Chrysochous municipality has in store for April 30 as it celebrates its annual Fish Festival. Returning for the seventh time, this year’s edition will welcome all sorts of fun activities, graffiti artists, local musicians and, of course, free fish and drinks for all!

Held at Latchi harbour from 11am to 8pm, the festival hopes to welcome old and young, locals and visitors to celebrate the art of fishing but also engage the local community with the arts. It will open with a live link from Zenith FM followed by three dance groups performing traditional dances.

Later on in the afternoon, while visitors browse the stalls, singers Petros Imviou, Giannis Sophillas and Georgia Pappou will be welcomed to the stage. As part of the festival’s actions the Mural Project will take place which will create graffiti in various part of Polis Chrysochou by Cyprus-based and international artists. The project will officially begin on April 25 and be completed on the day of the festival where the participating artists will be awarded.

Also within the festival’s actions is the launch of an art competition for students of the area on the theme ‘Traveling to the seabed of the Chysochous bay’. Children’s drawings will be displayed with the winning painting from each participating school given an award.

Stalls with traditional products and art will decorate the harbour while fishermen of the area will be demonstrating the art of fishing. Adding to the day’s fun are several activities for children such as a boat ride, graffiti creations with artists and even photo booths.
